General Election 2017 and Beyond

Following the Prime Minister’s recent announcement of a general election, we are excited to host a stimulating discussion between a range of panel speakers: Vicky Pryce, Economist and former joint Head of the Government Economic Service; UKIP MEP William Dartmouth; PWC’s Head of Reputational Damage Neil Sherlock; and Professor Colin Talbot, “The Public Investigator”, British Political Scientist and Chair of Government in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Manchester, will all give us their view on what the election could mean for the UK and its public services. This is a joint event with PCF’s sister organisation, the Association of Chief Executives.

The threat to operational delivery from a cyber attack are ever increasing, so we are excited to host a workshop for our members to hear the latest on how to manage the risks from GCHQ’s National Centre for Cyber Security. Plus, Emma Green, from DCMS’s Europe, Data, Digital and Security Directorate, will be talking through the government’s approach; Steve Lamey, CEO at the Student Loans Company will give one ALB’s perspective; and Professor of Cyber Security Eerke Boiten from De Montfort University’s Cyber Technology Institute, will provide an international perspective. This is a joint event with PCF’s sister organisation, the Association of Chief Executives.

The PCF are delighted to be hosting another a roundtable event with Sir Jeremy Heywood, Head of the Civil Service, at the Institute for Government on Friday 1 December 9-10am. This will be an opportunity for Chairs to hear an update on the current priorities within the civil service, follow up on any points discussed in our last meeting in September 2016 and raise any concerns they may currently be facing in their organisations.

Chief Executive of the Civil Service and Permanent Secretary for the Cabinet Office John Manzoni joins us to discuss the latest Cabinet Office thinking on reviews of arm’s-length bodies. There will also be input with the view from ALBs. A stimulating and thought provoking event, with PCF’s sister organisation, the Association of Chief Executives.
