‘Being in the Eye of the Storm’ a joint event with the PCF and ACE

On Tuesday 28 March, 9am – 11am, the Public Chairs’ Forum will be hosting a joint event with the Association of Chief Executives on ‘Being in the eye of the media storm’. A panel including Amanda Spielman, former Chair of Ofqual and now Chief Executive at Ofsted, Peter Wilson-Smith from Meritus Consultants, Danny Shaw, BBC Home Affairs Correspondent and Lord David Gold. This will be an exciting opportunity to learn from their experiences and hear words of advice about how to manage media attention in public-facing roles.

The PCF are delighted to be hosting another a roundtable event with Sir Jeremy Heywood, Head of the Civil Service, at the Institute for Government on 12 May. This will be an opportunity for Chairs to hear an update on the current priorities within the civil service, follow up on any points discussed in our last meeting in September 2016 and raise any concerns they may currently be facing in their organisations.

The theme for this year’s conference will be Brexit and what it means for public bodies. This will be an opportunity to hear from Bernard Jenkin MP; Keir Starmer, Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the EU; Hilary Benn MP, Chair of the Committee on Exiting the EU; William Dartmouth MEP; Gaenor Bagley, Brexit lead and Tina Hallett, Government and Public Sector Leader, both from PWC, as well as learning from perspectives outside government, including the independent think-tank the Institute the Government and Vicky Pryce, Economist and former joint Head of the Government Economic Service.

On 14 July 2017, 10am-12pm, PCF are delighted to welcome Niamh Corbett from Board Intellignce, who will be talking to members about what effective governance looks like.

Adhoc seminars will be arranged around fixed date seminars as necessary, in order to be as responsive as possible to the current environment and requirements of PCF members.

Existing PCF members are encouraged to get in touch and share their thoughts on useful, topical and interesting idea for future speakers and events.
